“KPIG 107.5 FM Radio, DJ Laurie Roberts aired "Carolina", off CD,"Streak Of Gray" by Gary Blackburn on Wednesday, November 14th, 2018 at 11:34am!”” - - KPIG 107.5 FM Radio
It took a long time for local musician Gary Blackburn to write “What’s It Gonna Take,” a song about his son Alex, who passed away in 2001 before turning 13. “It took time for me to really get past the total badness and grieving and start thinking I needed to make positive things out of this,” Blackburn says. “I need to move forward. I need to write it out to help my healing process.” The response to the song has been incredible, he says. The organization Compassionate Friends, which supports grieving parents, even flew him out to their annual convention to perform the song. ” - - Aaron Carnes, Good Times Santa Cruz (Aug 08, 2018)
"I have paid my dues to sing the blues," says the Santa Cruz-based singer and songwriter Gary Blackburn. And Blackburn is no stranger to the blues—as he proves with his Americana music. Songs like "Rain Is On My Window" and "Wildfires Thru My Heart" tell stories of love and loneliness, sung by a voice smooth as a river stone.” - - Victoria Alexandra Stocker, Monterey County Weekly (Feb 23, 2017)
